About Me

Erika Clark is an artist and educator. Erika received her Master of Arts in Education from the University of Findlay in 2005 and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2002.   Erika is currently faculty at Tiffin University and Owens Community College, Findlay Campus.

At each institution Erika instructs in the Fine and Performing Arts Department.  Erika is also the founder and faculty advisor for the OH! ART student group at Owens Community College.  At Owens since 2006, Erika teaches 2D Design, Fundamentals of Drawing, Oil Painting, Watercolor Painting, Art History Survey, Art Appreciation, Graphic Fundamentals and Introduction to the MAC.  Erika is teaching Western Art History and Fundamental of Design at Tiffin University during the 2011-2012 academic year. Erika recently chaperoned a trip to Los Angeles for the 100th Annual College Art Association conference where students learned how to facilitate discussions on the latest topics in art history, theory, criticism and pedagogy.

Erika is also the Director of Artist Relations for Red Tornado Gallery where she focuses on both visiting artist and emerging artist programs. Erika helps link up area artists with institutions where they can give workshops and presentations.  Erika coordinates and establishes the artist/venue relationships for the Hancock County Agency on Aging, Schey Hair Salon and the Findlay-Hancock County Convention and Visitor Bureau.

In her own art work, Erika focuses primarily on painting in drawing.  Most recently, Erika has exhibited in group shows at The Jules Oliski Challenge at the Toledo Museum of Art, The Artist Book Project at the Paper Crane Gallery in Chicago, IL, the Owens Community College Faculty Art Show, and the Whiteboard Art Expo.  Erika’s work was also featured in numerous solo shows, most notably one held at the Red Tornado Gallery titled “What doesn’t Kill Us.”  This showed Erika’s range as an artist with painting ranging in size from 2.5” x 3.5” to 4’x 4’.  The show was inspired by her cousin’s tragic car accident which caused a severe spinal injury that left him paralyzed in 2008 and his recent passing in 2012.  Spines have since been a frequent theme of Erika’s work.  Next, Erika is scheduled to be the Bicentennial Muralist for the City of Findlay as part of their year long celebration.
